We recently took part in Late at Tate Britain: Hidden Folklore, where we were invited to take over the Quiet Space for an evening of reflection, connection, and exploration.
As part of the takeover, we created A Guided Workbook to Become a Witch—a meditative workbook designed to support audiences in connecting with their bodies. The workbook invites participants to slow down, reflect, and consider embodiment as a source of knowledge. For us, being a witch is about tuning into the body and mind, rather than turning away from them.
The Quiet Space offered a rare and valuable setting to explore ideas around the able body within a major cultural institution. Visitors were encouraged to engage with the workbook at their own pace, creating moments of pause, introspection, and self-connection within the wider energy of the event.
We are grateful for the opportunity to develop and share this work, and for the collaborative support that made the takeover possible. Experiences like this reaffirm the importance of accessible, reflective spaces within cultural environments, and the potential of creative methods to open up conversations about bodies, difference, and care.
The workbook continues to be available as part of our ongoing practice and research.
