The team has been hard at work this summer and has completed all 30 townships selected for digitization in Illinois. Kate Augustine is now beginning analyses on environmental factors influencing forest composition and density in these townships building on work done by David Mladenoff's group at the University of Wisconsin.
In Ohio, local high school student Angharad Hamlin is making great progress digitizing the tree composition maps in western Ohio.
Data collection maps for both Illinois and Ohio have been updated to reflect the summer's progress.
