Advisor

Hsiang Chen is the Chair and a distinguished Professor in Applied Materials and Optoelectronic Engineering Department at National Chi Nan University, Taiwan. He was born in Taipei, Taiwan, 1973. He received the B.S. and M.S. degree from the Department of Electrical Engineering, National Taiwan University, Taiwan in 1995 and 1997. He received the Ph.D. degree from University of California, Irvine in 2008. In 2008, he joined the faculty at National Chi Nan University, Taiwan. He has published more than 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals. His current research areas focus on ZnO/ZnS core shell nanostructures, organic/inorganic hybrid gas sensors, high-k gate dielectrics, extended-gate field-effect transistors, and GaN optoelectronics.

Research Interests

Nanomaterials:

Integration nanomaterials into multianalyte biosensing membranes, Increasing electrical reliability of flash memories and gate dielectrics by including nanograins, and incorporation CNT and graphene into ZnO nanorods for gas and light sensing applications.

GaN optoelectronic devices:

Observing yellow electroluminescence defects, Passivation the defects in GaN materials with annealing, fast screening GaN LEDs by reverse-bias stress and salty water vapor.

CIGS solar film:

Using electrochemical codeposition to grow CIGS absorber layer, removal the CuS defect centers by modulating the annealing temperature profile,

enhancing the film quality by pulse deposition.

Fluorine implantation:

Fluorine implantation to improve the electrical, material, and sensing properties of the film.

Bit line Reliability Improvements:

Improving titanium and titanium nitride contact metal by incorporation of nitrogen

Silicon-based pH biosensing membrane:

Incorporation annealing treatment in N2 and O2 environment and introducing plasma treatment on senisng membrane to enhance sensitivity and linearity and to mitigate the hysteresis effect.
