Dr. Robert Fleming, Founder and Chairman
In addition to founding Nth Dimension Designs in 2014, Dr. Fleming is the Vice President of Research & Development at CLEARink Displays, was Director of Research at Imerys Corporation and was the co-founder and Chief Technology Officer at Shocking Technologies (2006 to 2013). Dr. Fleming has 25 years of experience in developing products in the fields of chemistry, polymers, nano-materials, and materials science. Prior to joining Shocking Technologies, Dr. Fleming worked for the 3M Corporation (1994 to 2006). As Program Manager, he led R&D projects in the areas of nanoparticles, displays, optical films, photovoltaics, light emitting diodes (LED), and organic light emitting devices (OLED). Dr. Fleming is also a certified Six Sigma Black Belt with expertise in New Product Introduction (NPI) systems. Previously, Dr. Fleming held quality control and development positions at Hoechst-Celanese Corporation in the field of microporous membranes for battery separators. Dr. Fleming started his career at Nations-Ford Chemicals conducting a wide range of chemistry synthesis. Dr. Fleming received the Inventor Excellence Award from the State of Minnesota (1999) and the Hoechst-Celanese Excellence in Polymer Science Award (1992). Dr. Fleming is a Member of the American Chemical Society and the Materials Research Society. He holds over 38 US patents. Dr. Fleming received his MS and PhD degrees in polymer science and engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and his BS in chemistry from Winthrop University.
Dr. Daniel Vasquez, Co-founder
Dr. Vasquez has a diverse area of expertise including MEMS sensor design and fabrication, magnetic materials, electrostatic discharge (ESD) design and modeling, semiconductor devices, inertial sensor design, and algorithm development for non-deterministic problem sets. He has years of experience in ESD design and modeling for both system level (IEC EN 61000-4), and device level protection (HBM, CDM). Dr. Vasquez has extensive experience modeling ESD events in consumer electronics devices using a commercial 3D finite integration solver and has developed a custom-built ESD simulation tool. He has developed ESD protection solutions in consumer electronics and accessories, medical devices, and LED modules. He has also performed product EMI failure analysis in precision sensors for heavy equipment manufacturers. Prior to co-founding Nth Dimension Designs, Dr. Vasquez was a manager at Exponent Technical Consulting, and a senior manager at Shocking Technologies. Dr. Vasquez has extensive experience in Asia and is fluent in spoken and written Mandarin Chinese.
John Kostelz, Co-founder
John Kostelz graduated from DeVry Institute of Technology in Lombard Illinois. He started his Silicon Valley career in 1986 working on Radio Frequency electronics at Varian Associates Solid State division and over the years worked his way up into various Engineering and Operation’s Technical Management positions. The past 16 years John has worked as a Technical Program Manager at Symbol Technologies, Motorola, Brocade, Aruba Networks, and Hewlett Packard, specializing in managing New Product Introduction hardware programs designed in the US and manufactured in Taiwan and China. John has 30 years of experience taking products from concept to revenue, while working with cross functional teams and overseas manufacturing facilities.
Toshiaki Matsukawa, Partner
Toshiaki Matsukawa is our Director of Business Development in Japan. He is a serial entrepreneur with a long successful track record in business development and international trade. He worked 24 years for one of the major Japanese trading firms which included being assigned to the Chicago and the Jakarta offices where he successfully grew Japanese steel business globally. He has also grown successful businesses in the overseas construction & development projects. We are honored to have Toshiaki Matsukawa as a team member.
