Established in 1726, Changhua Confucius Temple is famous for carvings in its main hall that are considered among the best in Taiwan. Its two central columns were carved from white stones of Quanzhou in Fujian Province. It is similar in style to the Longshan Temple in Lukang.

In front of the main hall placed a section of imperial path stone which is reserved exclusively for deities or emperors, and this accordingly reflects the high status of Confucius. Despite the fact that the Changhua Confucius standing today is a reconstruction completed in 1978 based on historical documentations, only 2/3 the size of the original one, it still managed to retain the architectural styles and collections from the Qing dynasty.
