3 教授還想說

我的研究領域其實一直在變，隨時間一直在增加，因為不斷地在學習新的東西！

最早我是研究電離層物理，後來為了量測太空資料，開始研究太空酬載，剛開始是仰賴國外製作，台灣這邊學習如何使用。

我讀到博士時才有機會接觸探空五號的製作設計，再後來我帶學生時，因為前面有參加探空五號、七號的計畫，所以有機會開始製作衛星和AIP的科學酬載，並在探空九號計畫中證明了它的可能性。

我也很感謝我很幸運地遇到了一群很優秀的碩博士生，和我一起製作科學酬載！

另外，去年11月發射升空的立方衛星珍珠號，直到目前都還運行順利，收到了很完美的數據，而我們的學生也越來越熟悉操作一顆自己衛星。

3 Words From the Professor

My fields of research keep changing and expanding over time since I am constantly learning new things!

At first I study ionospheric physics. And later in order to obtain more space data I started studying space payloads. Back then it was completely dependent on foreign production and we merely learnt how to use the equipment.

It was during my Ph.D that I had the chance to get in touch with the design and production of Sounding Rocket 5. And with the experiences of participating Sounding Rocket 5 and 7, I had the opportunity to produce satellite and AIP science payloads with students under my lead and proved its possibility in Sounding Rocket 9 Science Experiment.

I am also immensely grateful that I have met an extraordinary group of masters and Ph.D students who work on science payloads with me!

Another thing on the matter, the CubeSat PEARL launched last November is still operating smoothly to this day and keeps collecting amazing data for us. And our students are getting more handy on operating a satellite by themselves. 

4 求學小故事

我考上中央大學的物理地球科學系，那時候是第一屆，後來與物理系分家，成立了地球科學院，我便選擇了大氣組中的太空組。相對於其他科系的環境，太空系的讓我感覺比較親切，現在也是，所以歡迎大家來太空系。

我認為每個行業都有志趣在，只要有辦法找到興趣都很好。

5 學長姐想說

吉光老師是個好親近、有趣的人，他也樂於嘗試新事物，推動了許多計畫。

他平常的行程忙碌，但他也喜歡在空閒時間跟學生聊聊天，解決他們的疑問，像上面的內容就是我們去訪問後得到的。

在大一上下學期，分別會修到吉光老師開的工程實習、衛星系統實作課，這兩堂課都會是由老師實驗室的學生來教課，藉由擅長各個領域的學長姐深入淺出的解說，讓我們更容易理解內容。

課堂上跟作業都會有不少實作部分，認真學習的話實作能力可以大增，對程式或電路學掌握得較好的同學，學習上可能會輕鬆一點，若較不擅長也不用擔心，有任何問題也都可以放心詢問教學的學長姐！

4 Interesting Stories He Had in His College Days

I used to be a student at NCU’s geophysics department, the first session of the department in fact. Eventually, we departed with the physics department and founded the academy of geoscience. I chose the space subgroup under the atmosphere group as I felt that the environment was more welcoming. That feeling for me still lasts to this day, and therefore I welcome everyone to come to NCUSSE. I believe that every profession has its aspirations and interests and it’s a good pick as long as you found your interest in it.

He’s a friendly and interesting man who enjoys trying new things and also promotes many projects.

He’s usually quite busy but nonetheless likes to chat with the students during his spare time, for example the above contents were the results of an interview.

During the freshman year, you are likely to take two of his courses: Engineering Laboratory and Hands-on Satellite System. Both will be taught by students from his laboratory. With introductions from senior students of various professional fields, it may be easier to understand the concepts.

His lectures and assignments contain a significant portion of hands-on experiences. Pay some attention and your execution capabilities can increase noticeably. Students with a firmer grasp on programming and circuitry may have an edge on the courses, but no need to be concerned if not as the senior students doing the lecture are very open to help!
