The name of the Society shall be “North Carolina Society of Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists” (hereinafter referred to as NCSET).
The purpose of the Society shall be:
1. To improve the technical and educational aspects of electroneurodiagnostics in the state of North Carolina.
2. To stimulate and develop a high standard of skill in electroneurodiagnostics.
3. To encourage the exchange of ideas and proposals to enhance the progress of the North Carolina Society and to promote awareness of Neurodiagnostics.
4. To work with related health care professionals in gaining a more sophisticated view of the functions of electroneurodiagnostics.
5. To help improve basic recording techniques in North Carolina.
6. To utilize, for the sole purpose of the Society, any accumulation of funds in the form of money or property of any kind, never declaring these for the use and benefit of any person, officer, director or member, since the Society is a nonprofit organization.
7. To recognize and adhere by the standards and guidelines of ASET (American Society of Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists) and ABRET (American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists).
8. To, in general, conduct Society affairs in an orderly manner, suitable, proper, as not to abuse aforesaid purposes or violate any law or code set by the state or the U.S. Government.
9. To Protect and preserve both the patient and public trust in the neurodiagnostic technologist.
1. No commercial interest and no political party nor candidate for public office shall be endorsed or supported, directly or indirectly, by this Society, nor shall this Society’s name, nor the name of any officer in his or her official capacity in this society’s be made available for the benefit or detriment of any commercial interest, political party, or candidate for public office.
2. The activities of Article II shall be conducted and the objective achieved without pecuniary profit to officers or members.
1. The members of the Society shall consist of Active, Student and Associate members, as outlined in the By-laws.
2. Members, now classified as Active or Associate, who participated in the organizational meeting in Wilmington in August, 1983, shall also be known as Charter Members; this title carries with it no special privileges.
1. The officers of this Society shall be President, President-Elect, Secretary and Treasurer and Past President. The offices of Secretary and Treasurer may be combined at the discretion of the board. Each officer shall serve a term of two years beginning after the business meeting of the election year. No officer shall hold the same office more than two consecutive terms.
1. The Society shall meet at least annually at a time and place that meets the needs of the Society. The scientific sessions shall be open to all interested in electroneurodiagnostics and related fields.
2. The active members present at a regularly scheduled meeting shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business. A properly announced meeting shall be one which has been announced to the general membership at least two weeks prior to the meeting date.
3. Members may vote without a meeting on any matter submitted by the board where votes are submitted in writing.
The Constitution and By-laws may be amended at any business meeting by a majority vote of active members present. The President must receive written notice of a proposed amendment at least one month prior to the meeting. Active members must receive written notice of a proposed amendment at least two weeks prior to the meeting. An active member who will not be in attendance may request an absentee ballot from the Secretary. It must be returned to the Secretary at least two days prior to the meeting in order to be counted with the votes of those in attendance.
