Dr. Michaela Kelly (Assistant Professor of Voice) and Dr. Kari Adams (Assistant Professor of Choral Music Education) are hosting a High School Honors Chorus Prep Day on Saturday, August 29 from 9 AM to 12 PM at UNCG. The event will include a group warm-up, sectionals, tutti rehearsal, as well as professional development for teachers led by UNCG faculty and students.

The North Carolina Master Chorale Youth Choir will be hosting a free Honors Chorus Audition workshop for HS singers on August 29 from 2pm to 5pm. The workshop, to be held at NC State University, will include a vocal technique session with voice teacher and former NATS VP for Workshops Dr. DeMar Neal, a sight singing strategy session with veteran NC teacher & NCACDA R&R Chair Laura Sam, and an opportunity to work on the audition piece in sections and as a group with our clinicians, youth choir director Dr. Daniel Monek, and the rest of the Master Chorale artistic team. The Music Academy of North Carolina is sponsoring a NC Honors Chorus Audition Prep Workshop. The workshop will help with securing notes and rhythms and aid in exploring musicality, diction, and technique.

The High School Honors Chorus Workshop is returning to the Hayes School of Music at Appalachian State University! Saturday, September 12, 2026 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
Students will spend the afternoon with Dr. Jordan Shomper (Director of Choral Activities) working on the audition repertoire, discussing strategies, and participating in a mock audition experience to help them feel prepared and confident.
Choral directors should register their students here and bring them to campus for the workshop. Students are also welcome to attend with a parent/guardian if their director is unable to accompany them.
We look forward to bringing back this App State tradition and working with singers from across the region!
Deadline to register is September 8.
Cumberland Choral Arts and the Fayetteville Youth Chorus are hosting a FREE NCMEA High School Honors Chorus Audition Workshop on Saturday, September 12, 2026 from 9 am to 12 noon at Highland Presbyterian Church, 111 Highland Avenue, Fayetteville, NC. During the course of the workshop voice parts will be reinforced and coached on interpretation and vocal technique, sight reading skills and strategies will be introduced and/or reinforced, and students will have the opportunity to participate in a mock audition.
Students will be expected to bring their own copy of the audition selection. Follow this link to register:
The Charlotte Master Chorale is pleased to host a free High School Honors Chorus Audition Workshop for area high school singers preparing for the NCMEA High School Honors Chorus audition.
The workshop will take place on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 9:00 AM–12:00 PM at Christ Lutheran Church in Charlotte, NC, with optional mock auditions from 12:00–1:00 PM.
Participants will prepare the audition piece, learn sight-reading strategies, and receive tips and tricks on how to have a successful audition. The optional mock auditions will give students an opportunity to put their preparation into practice in a supportive setting. Participants should bring their own copy of this year's audition piece. There is no cost to participate.
The ECU Honors Chorus Preparatory Clinic for HS & MS students is a little over two weeks away. This is always a great time for your students to get some concentrated time on the audition repertoire, as well as coaching and feedback from ECU choral and voice faculty. Please tell your students about our clinic, and high school teachers, please make sure your middle school feeders know about the clinic. Most of the people receiving this email are HS chorus teachers.
