Large amounts of the Earth's ice poles are melting at an incredible rate over the last fifty years. This is expected to continue as CO2 levels rise across the globe. Polar bear death rates are increasing as ice mass melts away in the southern Arctic (A.P. 2022). Dangerous flooding is expected in the United States in low sea level cities that are located along the coastline of the United States of America. Not to mention storm surge flooding capabilities from hurricanes along coastlines. Australia is beginning to help low-lying islands near their country and the United States will likely have to do the same for cities such as New Orleans for example. New Orleans Louisiana Sea level is well below normal sea level for coastal cities and is similar to a bowl when a hurricane storm surge moves into the city. It has pumps to remove water for flooding situations but as seen with Hurricane Katrina in dire situations levies can fail and pumps may not have the capability to remove water fast enough to disable flooding potential.
