Andrés Valencia es profesor asistente de la Escuela de Ciencias del Lenguaje de la Universidad del Valle (Cali, Colombia). Tiene una maestría en Language and Literacies Education de OISE, de la University of Toronto, y otra maestría en Prospectiva e Innovación de la Universidad del Valle. Como formador de licenciados en lenguas extranjeras, sus intereses académico-investigativos se centran en las intersecciones entre la teoría anticolonial, las prácticas antiopresivas y antidiscriminatorias, las pedagogías queer y críticas, así como con las categorías de género y étnico-raciales. Como prospectivista, su labor se centra en la resolución de conflictos y la justicia ambiental e intergeneracional en contextos educativos del Pacífico colombiano y del Norte del Cauca. Es miembro activo del Instituto de Investigación e Intervención para la Paz; del Centro de Investigaciones y Estudios de Género, Mujer y Sociedad; y del Equipo de investigación en lingüística aplicada (EILA) de la Universidad del Valle.
