Fitzwilliam 4-6 NCAFC
NCAFC reaches the summit of Oxbridge football after a 6-4 thrashing of Fitzwilliam brings home the inaugural SuperCuppers™️, secures the treble and cements an invincible season for the club. Stories of the ‘Fitz factory’ and their 2 dropped points in 7 years meant it was an apprehensive 3 trains, 2 Limes and a Voi down to their grounds from Oxford, which not even Harry Youngs relentless stimming could dispel. This feeling grew when it turned out their XI contained only 3 Fitzwilliam natives (the rest consisting of ringers from various CUAFC teams) and had turned up in the Blues kit.
Nevertheless, the boys braved the heat and rock solid playing surface and started quickly. RM7(fem)’s relentless press hassled their Blues CB which gifted Andy Imai a tap in, and then RM7 got his goal with a weak foot rocket after being played in by No Liquids™️. Fitz halved the deficit with a screamer, but it was quickly restored as a loose ball from a corner bobbled for Goatbehaviourburg to smash in. Before halftime though Fitz had levelled it up, as two quality crosses led to two headers, and celebrations which slightly undermined their ‘unbothered’ facade. We went into the half knowing that the game was ours to win if only we could defend the self-proclaimed ‘dimes’ their CB was launching.
We raced out of the gate in the second half as a beautiful passage of jogo bonito led to a signature Andy Imai finish. This was quickly followed by an NCAFC staple, as No Liquids™️ tucked away his customary penalty, (denying Andy Imai a hattrick™️ in his testimonial) to add to his fabled 30g/a tally. Great work by Rolfe saw a second for Goatbehaviourburg, and though Fitz pulled one back we saw out the rest of the game. With SuperCuppers™️ in the bag, the day was only improved by news of West Ham’s relegation and Nocondridge’s impending ousting from the JCR.
Special mentions go to Kai, August, CG, Andy, and the absent Harvey and Bassi after playing their final games for the club - they’ve all been a huge part of our success this season and it will be a struggle to replace their contributions both on and off the pitch.
