Provide an association to represent people involved in, or supporters of alternative education.
Gather and disseminate information that promote and support asset-based mindsets and attitudes relevant to students and their families, and; educators and administrators serving non-traditional students.
Provide, through a democratic process, a unified voice for Alternative Education in North Carolina promoting Alternative Education issues through a networked communication system among educators, caregivers and families, the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) and local and state legislators that promote effective alternative learning programs and schools.
Provide professional learning opportunities and resources that support the implementation of exemplary practices across all alternative learning programs and schools publishing, and information dissemination to administrators and alternative educators.
Provide professional learning opportunities and resources that support an effective framework for program and school’s multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) across enrollment/placement, in-school engagement, transitions, and out of school and program supports for non-traditional students
Enhance and support the collaboration between traditional schools, families, and communities, and non-traditional programs and schools
