Jessica Hogue grew up in the Nelson County School district, graduating from Nelson County High School in 2009. She went on to pursue a bachelors and masters degree in nutrition and became a Registered Dietitian in 2016.
Jessica is a firm believer that a standardized test should never be the sole measurement of success in a student. Since entering the workforce at 15, Jessica says not once has she been asked about test scores in a job interview. She also recognizes the importance of preparing the next generation for the world, not just for a test.
Jessica wants to see decisions made for Nelson County Schools that will focus on providing equal opportunities to every student, regardless of their zip code.
These beliefs are the core reasons for her passion and involvement with NC 4ward.
Jamie Miracle is a resident of Cox's Creek and a 1997 graduate of Nelson County High School. She graduated with a Bachelors in Criminal Justice from EKU in 2002.
After serving in the Army National Guard she decided to follow her passion and pursue an Associates in Culinary Arts at ECTC. She's now an Associate Professor of Culinary Arts and enjoys encouraging her own students to follow their passion.
Jamie is the mother of two middle schoolers and believes that the inequities that exist within Nelson County middle schools should be the primary focus of the Nelson County School Board. She advocates for every student, no matter their zip code, to have access to 21st century instruction that prepares them for a better future.
Jamie envisions a school system where students not only excel academically, but have the opportunity to explore their passions and develop them into a lifelong career through community partnerships. She believes that by doing so, students will be able to apply what they learn academically to real life situations, expanding their skills while increasing student engagement. Creating a better outlook for every student in our public school system and ultimately building a stronger Nelson County are the reasons Jamie has chosen to be involved with NC 4ward.
