February 13-14, 2026 at the North Carolina Museum of Art
Mark your calendars! The NCCC AFA Association is thrilled to announce the dates and location for our highly anticipated 2026 conference. Join us for two days of insightful sessions, networking opportunities, and a touch of celebratory spirit on February 13-14, 2026, at the beautiful North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh.
Get ready to connect, collaborate, and cultivate valuable relationships with your fellow NCCC AFA members. With the conference falling just before Valentine's Day, you can expect a theme that hints at connection, partnership, and perhaps even a little heart for our shared mission. This is an unparalleled opportunity to strengthen bonds within our community, share best practices, and build lasting professional relationships.
We are thrilled to share our 2026 Keynote Speaker, Dr. Keith Sawyer, Morgan Distinguished Professor of Educational Innovation at UNC-Chapel Hill. Dr. Keith Sawyer is one of the world’s leading scientific experts on creativity. He has published 20 books and over 120 scientific articles. His 2022 book The Cambridge Handbook of the Learning Sciences covers the entire scope of the latest research on how people learn, bringing together an international team of leading scholars. His 2024 book, Explaining Creativity: The Science of Human Innovation, has been called “the bible of creativity” because of its exhaustive review of scientific research. It is the single most important authoritative source for the latest creativity research. Sawyer’s keynotes and workshops are filled with inspiring and hands-on activities, each of them grounded in solid research. Learn more here.
More details, including registration information and a full agenda, will be released soon. For now, please "save the date" and prepare to join us for an inspiring and engaging conference experience! We can't wait to see you there!
Taking place at the stunning North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh and overlapping with Valentine's Day, this conference is more than just a gathering—it's a collective masterpiece. We believe that the heart of our field lies in the connections we forge and the ideas we share.
We are now accepting proposals from dedicated Fine Arts Professors, Artists, Administrators, and Advisors at both 2-year and 4-year institutions.
Please note that all presenters will have their registration fees waived and are encouraged to attend other sessions.
We are seeking dynamic, engaging, and inspiring content that moves beyond a traditional lecture format. We want sessions that foster real conversation, include hands-on activities, or encourage a lively, collaborative exchange of ideas.
This is your opportunity to lead a discussion, share a new teaching strategy, or host a workshop that will benefit your peers and strengthen our entire community.
We are particularly interested in proposals related to topics such as:
Navigating the New Frontier: Teaching with AI in the Creative Classroom
Seamless Transitions: Advising with the New Transfer Guide Tool
Building Bridges: Strategies for Developing Meaningful and Collaborative Partnerships
Community Canvas: Leveraging Local Arts Councils to Support Arts Programming in Higher Ed (a perfect fit for a panel discussion!)
