The Travis County Re-Entry Resource Guide was created by the Travis County Justice Planning & Workforce Development (JPWD) Department and distributed by the Travis County Sherriff's Office.
The mission of the Justice Planning Department (JP) is to support the Travis County Commissioners Court and key stakeholders by providing quality data analysis and the planning, implementing, and sustaining county-wide initiatives for the enhancement of public safety and reduction in crime.
JP's vision is to make Travis County a safer, more engaged community by facilitating information exchange, promoting innovative justice policies and practices, and serving individuals who are involved in or at risk of becoming involved in the justice system.
The Workforce Development Department (WD) mission is to promote a safe and prosperous community for residents of the Austin Metropolitan Area by providing general reentry and employment services to individuals dealing with a criminal record as a barrier to being a productive member of society. They work with anyone who has had involvement with the criminal justice system regardless of the nature of the charges, the number of blemishes, or the amount of time passed since the last offense.Â
The Travis County Re-Entry Resource Guide was created for the benefit of those in need of information regarding resources that may be available to former offenders and their families during the reentry process after incarceration.
Annually, millions of Texans dial 2-1-1 to reach the Texas Information & Referral Network (TIRN) for help with basic needs like food, housing, child care, or emergency services. 2-1-1 TIRN, a program of Texas Health and Human Services, hosts a free anonymous hotline that operates options 1 (community programs and services), 4 (emergency assistance registry), 5 (disasters), 6 (public health emergencies) and 8 (mental health and substance abuse).Â
Water, food, clothing, sleep, and shelter are the bare necessities for anyone's survival. For many people, these basic needs can not be met without the aid of charitable organizations. A reliable place to receive a meal can be what's needed for a person to focus on obtaining higher needs.
