• Pioneering Assistive Technology for Children

Fact: Holland Bloorview has innovatively taken the lead in the use of assistive technology to empower children with disabilities. Equipping children with tools for walking, communicating, and other daily tasks prepares them for independent living (Holland Bloorview, 2024).

 ECE Collaboration: ECEs can collaborate with Holland Bloorview to bring assistive devices into the classroom so that children with disabilities have what they need to participate and learn (Holland Bloorview, 2024).

• Innovative Family Support Services

Fact: Holland Bloorview’s family-centered care includes peer networks where families share advice and build connections. These networks create a strong community for families of children with disabilities (Holland Bloorview, 2024).

 ECE Collaboration: Collaboration by ECEs with the hospital's family support programs can provide the opportunity for family-inclusive events to occur at the childcare setting, making families feel more included in the child's learning and building stronger networks for the child (Holland Bloorview, 2024).

• Neurodevelopmental Clinic for Early Diagnosis

Fact:Holland Bloorview hosts one of Canada's first early diagnosis and intervention clinics for conditions like autism and ADHD (Holland Bloorview, 2024).

 ECE Collaboration: ECEs can take pointers from this Neurodevelopmental Clinic and implement early diagnosis signs in their practice. The early interventions are carried out for benefits of growth and development in children (Holland Bloorview, 2024). 

• Community Engagement through Fundraising

Fact: The hospital organizes fundraising events to raise awareness and support for children with disabilities (Holland Bloorview, 2024).

 ECE Collaboration:  ECEs can also work in partnership with the Transition Support Program to help them ensure a smooth school transition to enable children with disabilities to have full support both in the classroom and in their respective communities (Holland Bloorview, 2024). 

• Smooth Transition Collaboration with Schools

Fact: Holland Bloorview supports children’s transition from hospital to school through its Transition Support Program, ensuring academic and social readiness (Holland Bloorview, 2024).

 ECE Collaboration:  ECEs can get involved in the community by participating in Holland Bloorview's awareness and advocacy campaigns directed at the promotion of inclusive education policies for meeting the needs of children with disabilities (Holland Bloorview, 2024).
