Nayoung Rim

Associate Professor of Economics

I am an Associate Professor of Economics at the United States Naval Academy.  I am an applied labor economist studying discrimination and inequality.

My research strives to understand how laws and incentives can be structured to reduce inequality. I have examined the effectiveness of Title IX in reducing gender disparities in graduate education, how up-or-out promotion policies affect fertility timing decisions differently for men vs. women, how a racial engagement and advocacy gap affects career progression, and racial/ethnic disparities in diagnostic testing. My work has been supported by the Russell Sage Foundation, the Laura and John Arnold Foundation, and AccessLex Institute/AIR. Here is my research statement.

I have a Ph.D. and a master's degree in public policy from the University of Chicago and a B.A. in economics from Wellesley College.
