Navigating  Your Blindness

Penn Medicine Article (2020), "Navigating through Sudden Blindness."

featuring Christine and Sam.

Navigating sudden vision loss was traumatic.  The adjustment to blindness, July 2019, continues to be a daily journey of new challenges.  We have made the deliberate choice to notice the  bright spots.  We call these our 'silly seconds' and have included accidentally wearing clothing backwards or inside out, walking in the women's room, and almost using foot cream instead of toothpaste.   These brief moments  experienced in laughter, are simple, and yet, suggest that one day we'll wind our way back to joy.

Sam navigated his new normal with the love of his family. We are also grateful for all those along our way who have  pointed us in the right direction to get services, support, and the help we need.  This website, inspired by Sam's wonderful physician, Dr. Madura Tamhankar was designed to make the  journey, perhaps a bit easier for others.  To reach Sam and I directly, we invite you to email us at christineandsamjune23@gmail.com.
