Naver is acknowledged as the number one search portal in South Korea. Despite being mainly known in South Korea,  Naver remains ranked as the fifth most-used search engine in the world after Google, Yahoo, Baidu and Bing.  Naver launched its search engine in June 1999. It all started from the earliest website, which consists of a Q&A platform called knowledgeiN (지식인).

The success of Naver is thanks to the team behind it which is called TEAM NAVER. The team is composed of various experts and groups who excel and have hands-on experience in each field. Through Team Naver, we are able to create numerous business models and venture into other different industries which fulfill one of our main objectives, creating new opportunities for the people. To ensure that the team can move forward, the CEO, Soo-Yeon Choi says that her role is to become the focal point of Team Naver. She also states that the leader should be at the center of the organization and not above it to succeed.

At the age of 40, Soo-Yeon Choi took over as Naver's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and made herself known as the youngest company CEO. She's a Civil Engineering graduate. However, she was introduced to Naver during an internship program in the Public Relations and Marketing departments. Then, she got promoted into a Manager position in 2005. After that, she had to leave Naver to pursue her studies in Law School at Yonsei’s University and later on at Harvard Law School. Her work experience after her studies was working as an international mergers and acquisitions lawyer before returning to Naver in 2019. By the time she returned to Naver, she had become the head of global business support. 3 years after that, she was appointed as head of the entire corporation, Naver.

Located in Gyeonggi-do, Republic of Korea, Naver headquarters has two buildings. The second building is called 1783 and it is the new Naver's office building.  The number is not just a simple random number that we put as the name, it is the number that brings significant meaning to our corporate values.  The idea behind the building's name comes from the fact that the second headquarters are located at street number 178-4, which also refers to the year the Industrial Revolution began. Similar to how the Industrial Revolution impacted people's lives, our organization works towards being able to transform technology from theory to reality for the people.
