Welcome back to my Site Journal. With the cold weather coming closer with each passing day, Observatory Park has been undergoing changes with it's vegetation, animals, and features.
Welcome back to my Site Journal. With the cold weather coming closer with each passing day, Observatory Park has been undergoing changes with it's vegetation, animals, and features.
During a morning walk to Observatory Park, it was clear to me that the environment around us is changing. The blowing wind is colder, the trees are redder, and the squirrels are much, much fatter.

When I got to the park, the first thing I did was walk over to the string of trees I have been observing. What was interesting was that some of them have started to turn a different color while others still are changing slowly. One oak tree in particular was turning a very dark brown while another was more of a subtle yellow/green. Additionally, further down the line there was a strand of trees that had completely lost their leaves.

As I went deeper in the park, I noticed that the community garden that was located in the back right corner of the park was gone. While I assumed that it was for the coming winter, it was still very sad to see. It almost felt like whoever was in charge of the garden gave up on it. When thinking about it, I connect it to Standing Bear. While the parks already are separation of humans and nature, the garden served as a connection between the two at the park. Now with it gone, I feel as though part of the connection is weaker than it already was.
