Long Point

Long Point - Bá?sac (pronounced Ba-asats)

The Lower Skagit village named Bá?sac was reported on Long Point between the communities of BƷáƷale [Coupeville] and Čoba?álšid [Snatelum Point]. The village was remembered as a permanent village with a good gravel beach and for reasons unknown was called "shipyard" in the past. Other sources describe Bá?sac as a permanent village complete with homes and a cemetery.

Bá?sac was a village used for getting horse clams, mussels, flounder, sole, and cockles. To the southeast, there were grounds for getting geese and duck as well as smelt which was caught generally off the shores between Coupeville and Long Point.

Other resources gathered from this area included deer, waterfowl, blackberries, wild currants, flax for medicinal purposes, and strawberries.
