PREDECESSORS AND SHORT HISTORY: Also known as Lalitapura or Lalitapatan. Became a part of the state of Kathmandu after the fragmentation of the the ancient Kingdom of Nepal in about 1482, and later in 1536, the Mahapatra of Kathmandu declared Patan independent, his son succeeded but was defeated by the Raja of Kathmandu around 1598, and Patan was again became part of Kathmandu, however in 1620, the Raja of Kathmandu gave Patan to a grandson and allowed it to become independent again. Raja VISHNU SIMHA, Prime Minister of Kathmandu, declared Patan independent in 1536, and took the title of Raja for himself, married and had issue. He died after 1554.

Raja SHIVA SIMHA, Raja of Patan 1609/1619 or 1598/1619 or 1620 also ruled as Rajadhiraja Shivasimhamalla of Kathmandu 1578/1619.
Sri Sri Rajadhiraja Jaya SIDDHINARASIMHAMALLA, Raja of Patan 1619/1658 or 1620/1661, he founds Sivapura, enlarges the palace and plants a garden, constructs a temple for the image of Krishna; he initiated the traditional cultural dance festival of Kartik Naach in 1640, which has become the longest art festival in the country of Nepal; after uniting Patan with Pulchowk he abdicated his throne and became an ascete in 1658; married, Rani Banumati, died 1648 (1,Ashwina Badi, Friday), and had issue. Maharajadhiraja Sri Sri Sri Jaya SRINIVASAMALLA Prabhu, Raja of Patan 1658/1685, styled Manigladhipati Maharajadhiraj, assumed the title of Nepaleshwara in 1666 after his victory over the Raja of Bakhtapur; he constructs the Mulchawk (chief square) at Patan and lengthens festival of Krsnalila; abdicated in 1685 and became an ascete; married (a), 28th December 1659 (15, Poush Sudi), a daughter of Raja Partapamalla of Kathmandu, married (b), Maharani Lakshmi Devi, living 1686, married (c), Maharani Siddhi Mantala Devi, living 1686, and had issue. He died 1687.

Rajadhiraja Jaya YOGANARENDRAMALLA, Raja of Patan 1685/1705, he constructs the new temple of Tulja and other temples and dharas; married (amongst others) (a), Ranidhirani Narendralaxmi Devi, married (b), Ranidhirani Pratapalaxmi Devi, married (c), Ranidhirani Yogalaxmi Devi, living 1685, married (d), Ranidhirani Rajeshwari, a Khas Chettri concubine, and had issue. He died without legitimate male issue on 28th October 1705 after smoking some poisoned tobacco gifted to him by the Raja of Bhatgaon, 21 queens and concubines committed sati.

Rajadhiraja Jaya LOKAPRAKASAMALLA, Raja of Patan 1705/1706, born 1698, crowned on or about 12th November 1705. He died October 1706.
Rajadhiraja Jaya INDRAMALLA [Purandara Malla], Raja of Patan 1706/1709, son of Sri Bauddha Malla, married Rani Bhagyawati Devi, and had issue. He died in March 1709.

Rajadhiraja Jaya VIRAMAHINDRAMALLA, Raja of Patan 1709 and 1709/1715, died 21st January 1715 and cremated the following day at Shankhamul Ghat, 33 wives committed sati.
Rajadhiraja Jaya VIRANARASIMHAMALLA, Raja of Patan in 1709, he possibly was the husband of Rani Yogamati Devi, but his relationship to the Royal Family of Patan is otherwise unknown.
