Rajadhiraja RATNAMALLA [Rama Malla], Raja of Kathmandu 1482/1520, he conquers the Thakuri inhabitants of Nawakot in 1491, married and had issue.
Rajadhiraja Suryamalla (qv)
Rajadhiraja SURYAMALLA, Raja of Kathmandu 1520/1530, he created disunity in the kingdom by forcibly occupying the town of Sankhu, which was then under Bhaktapur; he occupied the Kerunge route, annexed Sindhupalchowk and later the route leading to Kuti, he thus controlled both the major routes to Tibet; married and had issue.

Rajadhiraja MAHENDRAMALLA, Raja of Kathmandu 1560/1574, he constructs the temple of Mahendresvar; he sends presents to the Mughal Emperor of Delhi and receives permission to mint the silver coin called Mahendramalli; married and had issue, as well as further issue.

Rajadhiraja Shivasimhamalla (illegitimate) (qv)
Rajadhiraja SADASHIVAMALLA, Raja of Kathmandu 1574/1578 (1583), he engages in vice and runs with profligate companions, and is deposed and exiled to Bhagatpur, where he is confined and dies.
Rajadhiraja SHIVASIMHAMALLA Deva Prabhu Thakula, Raja of Kathmandu 1578/1619, by the time he ascended the throne, the Prime Minister (Mahapatra) of Lalitpur had proclaimed himself ''Maharaja'', and had become almost independent of Kathmandu, he brought Lalitpur under his control by removing him, but was prevented by other ministers, from annexing Lalitpur; married Rani Ganga Devi, and had issue. He died 1619.

Rajadhiraja Jaya Siddhinarasimhamalla, first independent Raja of Patan (qv).
Rajadhiraja LAKSHMINARASIMHAMALLA, Raja of Kathmandu 1619/1641, he handed over Lalitpur to his step-brother in 1621, and thus emerged the three independent kingdoms of Kathmandu Valley, all later ruined by years of mutual conflict; he establishes commercial houses in Kathmandu and initiates communication through his minister, Bhimamalla with Tibet, with whom he signs a treaty by which he obtains half the frontier towns of Kuti and Kerrang; married and had issue.
Maharajadhiraja Pratapamalla (qv)
Maharajadhiraja PRATAPAMALLA, Raja of Kathmandu 1641/1674, poet and author of Vrstichintamani; he calls himself the 'King of Poets", "A Lion Among Kings" and "Proficient in all Branches of Learning and Versatile in the Use of Weapons"; he was learned and peaceful but also vain and boastful, he leaves the regal power in hands of his cunning minister, Laksminarayana, who eliminates all his rivals at the court; he constructs and repairs temples, canals, tanks etc.; he hands over power to his four sons on the advice of a Brahmin; married 1stly, Maharani Rupamati Devi, died before 1649, daughter of Raja Bira Narayan of Cooch Behar, married 2ndly, Rani Rajamati Devi, died before 1649, married 3rdly, Maharani Ananta Priya Devi of Cooch Behar, married 4thly, Maharani Prabhawati Devi, and had issue. He died 1674.
Maharajkumar Bhupendramalla, died before 1674.
Rajkumar Mahipatindramalla [Mahipendramalla], pretender to the throne in 1670, he was imprisoned by his younger brothers and was unable to succeed to the throne; he married and had issue. He died after 1670.

Rajkumar Chakravatindramalla, pretender to the throne in 1669. He died after 1669 and before 1674.
Rajkumari (name unknown), married 28th December 1659, Maharajadhiraja Sri Sri Sri Jaya Srinivasamalla Prabhu, Raja of Patan, and had issue.
Rajadhiraja Jaya NRIPENDRAMALLA, Raja of Kathmandu 1674/1681, married (b), 1675, and had issue. He died 1681 (Ashadh, 1737VE).
Rajadhiraja Parthivendramalla (qv)
Rajadhiraja PARTHIVENDRAMALLA [Prithvendramalla], Raja of Kathmandu 1681/1687, he performs religious rites and carries out religious duties; styled Maharaja Nepalendra; married (a), 1675, Rani Rajya Lakshmi Devi, styled Maharani Jagatmata, died after 1689, married (b), Ranidhirani Ridhhi Lakshmi, and had issue. He died July 1687 (Ashadh, 1744VE)
Rajadhiraja Jayabhupalendramalla [Jayamahipatindramalla] (by Ridhhi Lakshmi) (qv)
Rajadhiraja Jaya BHUPALENDRAMALLA, Raja of Kathmandu 1687/1700, born 1678, styled Nelaleshwara Maharajadhiraja Sakalarajachakradhishwara, he grants much land to the Brahmins; an epidemic of cholera breaks out in 1699, claiming the life of the Raja and many others; married Ranidhirani Bhuvan Laksmi Devi, died after 1704, and had issue. He died of cholera in 1700 or March 1701.
Rajadhiraja Jayabhaskaramalla [Jayamahendrasimhamalla] (qv)
Rajadhiraja Jaya BHASKARAMALLA, Raja of Kathmandu 1700/1722, born 1696, proclaimed himself Raja of Patan in 1717 as Gajapathi Mahindra Simha and assumed the title of Nepaleshwara Girindra, died without surviving issue in August 1722, when two queens and two concubines became sati.
Rajadhirajkumar (name unknown), born 1714, died 1714.
Rajadhiraja JAGATJAYAMALLA, Raja of Kathmandu 1722/1735, composer of dramas; during his reign Capuchin missionaries are allowed to settle in Nepal; after the death of his son and heir he loses interest in his kingdom and lawlessness takes over, with Brahmins and even the Royal household being robbed; married (amongst others), Ranidhirani Kumudini Devi, and had issue. He died 1735.

Rajadhiraja Jayaprakasamalla (qv)
Kunwar Rajyaprakasamalla, adopted as his heir by Rajadhiraja Srijayavishnumalla of Patan, and succeeded there as Rajadhiraja Jayarajyaprakasamalla (see Patan).
Kunwar Narendraprakasamalla, he and the Tharis rebel, seizing Sankhu, Gokarna, Changu, Nandigram and Devapatan townships, from which he is ousted four months later. He died at Bhatgaon.
Kunwar Chandraprakasamalla, died sp before 1735.
Ranidhirani Chandralaxmi Devi, married Rajadhiraja Sri Sri Jaya Vishnumalla, Raja of Patan.
Rajadhiraja Jaya PRAKASAMALLA, Raja of Kathmandu 1735/1746 and 1752/1768, he discharges all persons of the Khasia, Jaisi, Bhanil and Rajlawant tribes from his service; he is deposed by the Thari Khasias and replaced with his infant son; he returns and punishes the traitors including his wife and resumes his rule; he wrests Nawakot from the Gorkhas but later made an error in judgement in not siding with Patan and Bhatgaon against the Raja of Gorkha and instead sought the help of the British, which was not forthcoming and he lost his kingdom as a result; married (a), Ranidhirani Janani Jaya Laxmi Devi, married (b), Ranidhirani Deyavati Laxmi Devi, and had issue. He retired to die at Aryaghat after 1768.
Rajadhiraja Jayajyotiprakasamalla (by Deyavati) (qv)
Rajadhiraja Jaya JYOTIPRAKASAMALLA, Raja of Kathmandu 1746/1752, born about 1741, declared king after the deposition of his father. He died of smallpox (#1).
