HEAD SEAT: The Raja of Naraina in Jaipur is considered as the head of Khangarot clan.


PREDECESSORS AND SHORT HISTORY: Ancestor of the family was Rao Khangar of Amber (Jaipur), son of Rao Jagmal, Raja of Amber (Jaipur). The family had one Princely State (Jammu and Kashmir), 21 Tazimi (Premiere Nobles) and around 60 Khas Chauki (Feudal Baron) Thikanas in Jaipur. The Khas Chauki States were of various types based on the privileges granted to them by the emperor of Delhi or the ruler of Jaipur. (#1)


  • Raja PRITHVIRAJ SINGH I, 8th Raja of Amber (Jaipur) 1502/1527, married Rani Bala Bai (Apoorva Devi) of Bikaner, and had issue. He died 4th November 1527.

    • Raja Sahib Rao JAG MALJI (sixth son), briefly Raja of Jaipur, after he became the Ruler of Amber for some time, married Rani Neta Kunwari, daughter of Rana Pahar Singh of Amarkot, and had issue, five sons. He died in 1549.

      • Raja Sahib Rao KHANGAR, Raja of Naraina, married 19 wives, including, (a) Rani Mandalawatji, (b) Rani Mertaniji, (c) Rani Jodhiji Senior, (d) Rani Solankiji, (e) Rani Chauhanji of Makrana, and had issue, 13 sons, ancestors of the Khangarots, which comprised one of the Bara Kotri (12 Chambers) of the Kachhawa Royal Family. He died in 1584.

      • Thakur Ram Chandra Khangarot, younger son, left Rajputana due to some property dispute with his brother. He went towards north near Tapi river, carved a new empire of his own and named it Jammu on the name of Kachwaha Kuldevi 'Jamuwai Mata' and is the ancestor of the Jamwal Rulers of Jammu and Kashmir.
