OTHER MEMBERS:
It was conquered by the Pindari leaded, Amir Khan, in the course of his Jaipur and Jodhpur campaigns; and the Thakur of Lawa then became a feudatory of Amir Khan's State of Tonk. In 1867, however, after the murder of the Thakur, this connection was terminated, and Lawa came under the direct protection of the British Government. The area of the Satte is 18 square miles; its population is 3680, chiefly Hindus.
The relatives of the Thakur, who form the chief men of the Thikana, are granted lands in Jagir called "Havalas and Inam". These are five in number and consist of 5,000 bighas, yielding an annual rental of about Rs. 5,000. No tribute is levied from the Havalas but whenever the Thakur leaves Lawa the holders have to accompany him by turns.
