PREDECESSORS AND SHORT HISTORY: The estate was earlier known as Kuchbandhiyon ki dhani. Ancestor of the family was Thakur Zalim Singh, 3rd son of Thakur Kishore Singh of Deoli in Maroth (as per different source, he received no appanage or share in Maroth State). The estate initially had one village of Kuchaman of 6000 bigha land granted by his brother Thakur Hutti Singh of Panchota Mahal; later some more villages of Panchota were added to the estate eg. Shyamgarh, and the number of villages increased to 14, 19 and 26 respectively, and the revenue raised to Rs. 55,000 (1877), and 1 lac (1947). The Chief is a First Class Sirayat (Premiere Noble) of Jodhpur and the only Noble allowed to mint coins. The estate is impartible and the rule of succession is primogeniture. Estate holders were.....

While supporting Rao Bakhta Singh of Nagaur (along with Kumpawat and Champawat Nobles) against his nephew Maharaja Ram Singh, son of Maharaja Abhai Singh of Jodhpur, who was supported by all other loyal Mertia Rathores, resulting in large scale annihilation of Rathores and deprivation of power of the Rathore States for the benefit of emerging Maratha power.
As for Sawant Singh, Thakur of Kherwa, during mutiny, a strong recommendation for reward was made by Major Eden, Officiating Agent to the Governor-General. The Government promptly accepted the suggestion and authorised him to present each of the thakurs a revolver and a sword in recognition of their loyal conduct during the mutiny.
