PREDECESSORS AND SHORT HISTORY: The Katyar rajputs are said to have been originally Tomars and to have come from Sonoria or Tomar Katar [aka Tomarghar] in Gwalior in around 1550, under Rao Deoram Datt, who was on a pilgrimage to the Ganges. He first settled at Singhirampur on the Farrukhabad side of the river, where he allied himself with the Manihars and crushed the opposition, afterwards he turned on the Manihars and seized their possessions. The estate consisted of 82 Villages and 57 mahals in the Parganas of Katiari, Sandi and Gopamau all in Hardoi District, of these, 15 villages are revenue-free, whilst 42 villages and 6 mahals are held on a permanent settlement. Raja HARDEO BAKHSH SINGH C.S.I., Thakur Saheb of Katiyari 1842/1878, he remained loyal during to the British Government the mutiny and afterwards he was rewarded with the title of Raja in 1859, made a C.S.I., a jagir worth Rs15,000 and a khilat worth Rs 20,000, married and had issue. He died sp in 1878.

Raja TILAK SINGH, Raja of Katiyari 1878/1885, he succeeded to the gadi in 1878 (#1, p.302), and was granted the title of Raja on 23rd April 1878 as a Personal distinction, married Rani Mahtab Kunwar (qv). He died sp in 1885.

Raja KALKA SINGH, Raja of Katiyari 1891/1895, he was granted the title of Raja as a Personal distinction in May 1891; married Rani Satrupa Kunwar (qv).

Raja Bahadur RUKMANGAD SINGHJI Sahib, Raja of Katiyari 1906/after 1933, born 23rd March 1886, he was the largest landowner in the district and was head of the Chhattri community in the district; President of the local Chhattri Sabha; he contributed sums of Rs20,000 and Rs1,50,000 towards the cost of King George's Chhattri High School; he also had the poor-house at Hardoi rebuilt at his expense; he was appointed Honorary Magistrate, 3rd Class within the limits of his own estate; he was granted the title of Raja as a personal distinction on 26th June 1908 and it was declared hereditary on 1st January 1921, the title of Raja Bahadur as a personal distinction was conferred on the Raja on 1st January 1925; married and had issue. He died after 1933.

Thakurani Tomariji Yogmaya Devi, married 1940, Thakur Bahadur Singhji, Thakur Saheb of Ras, born 21st June 1921, died 14th June 1986, and had issue, six sons and three daughters. She died 13th February 1998.
Raja UDAI PRATAP SINGH, Raja of Katiyari, married 1stly, Rajkumari (name unknown) of Dumraon, married 2ndly, Rani Chand Kumari, daughter of Thakur Shri Sawai Singhji Sahib of Isarda, and his wife, Thakurani Sugan Kunwar, and had issue, as well as adoptive issue.
Rajkumari Sulekha Kumari, married Thakur Digvijay Pal Singhji of Kotla, and had issue.

(A) Kunwar Gangesh Singh, son of Thakur Digvijay Pal Singhji of Kotla, and his wife, Thakurani Sulekha Kumari of Katiyari (see above), he succeeded as Raja Krishna Pratap Singh.
