Selamat Hari Raya Haji to all Muslim friends! Wishing you all having a good day! Hari Raya Haji is celebrated to mark the end of the Muslim pilgrimage known as the haj. According to the fifth pillar of Islam, all able-bodied Muslims who can afford to do so are obliged to undertake this pilgrimage at least once in their lifetime. The haj retraces the journey of Prophet Muhammad’s pilgrimage to Mecca and must be undertaken during Zulhijjah, the 12th month of the Islamic calendar.

Today marks the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. Ramadan is the festival of Hari Raya Aidilfitri or Hari Raya Puasa. Ramadan is a period of sober repentance for Muslims, with approximately 30 days of dawn-to-dusk fasting.

Gawai Dayak Festival is celebrated every year on June 1 by the Dayak people in Sarawak. The word ‘Dayak’ is a collective term referring to the several hundred sub ethnic groups of indigenous people of Borneo. Gawai Dayak or also known as Hari Gawai is a thanksgiving and harvest festival marking bountiful yields and the planning of future prospects.

Do you know, Kaamatan or Pesta Kaamatan is a form of harvest festival celebrated annually in the state of Sabah in Malaysia. It is normally celebrated by the ethnic Kadazan-Dusuns, as well as by other related ethnic groups in the state, and lasts for the whole of the month of May, ending with a public holiday on a date selected by a priestess known as the bobohizan. 🌾🌾🌾
