Demaris Elrod Swint
March 15, 1946 – October 30, 2023
Demaris Swint died on October 30 after a brief illness. She was like no other in her selfless generosity to our hobby. Demaris was a collector of hold-to-light cards who attended numerous shows throughout the country, cheerfully distributing snacks and smiles as she walked the aisles. Her leadership and energy were evident in her participation with the International Federation of Postcard Dealers as secretary and treasurer, her enthusiastic embrace of the Postcrossing movement, and most prominently as the person who kept National Postcard Week going for almost 10 years. Her passing will not end NPCW, as Clarissa Ferraris of the Capitol Beltway Postcard Club in Maryland and Emery Heuermann, her Spring, Texas friend who avidly collects NPCW cards, have stepped up to carry on this important responsibility. The Facebook page “National Postcard Week 2” (email NPCW24@gmail.com) has become the official page for NPCW under their aegis and all of us who value the hobby and embraced Demaris’s enthusiasm should consider joining.
