I would like to do engineering as my future career. My favorite fields of engineering right now are mechanical, electrical engineering, and design, like in AutoCAD and SolidWorks. I have been wanting to be an engineer for a long time. I got into inventing when I was 4 or 5 years old. I got the idea of being an inventor/engineer from Batman, Ironman, and Spider-Man because I wanted to be them. I knew I could not get powers naturally so I thought I could build machines that would do the same thing as the superheroes. Of course, as I got older my priorities changed to more important things (not really), but I still want to help people with my inventions.
I have taken a couple classes that could befits me in a future engineering job. I have not taken special courses but I have taken foundations of computer science and basic classes like algebra 1 in 9th grade, geometry and 1 year of engineering and am currently in year 2 in the Engineering program at the Tech Center. I also developed good skills in formal writing while being homeschooled through the eighth grade. I have also been learning to work in groups at the Tech Center and using special equipment, like CNC machines, and have used precision measurement tools and am certified in using calipers. I also have experience in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Vcarve. These are all things that will help in either of my chosen careers.
Outside of school I have gained some really important traits that will carry over into my chosen profession. I live on a farm and have to take care of chickens every day and night. This has taught me to be responsible. Also, I have worked alongside my dad many times in his job as an IT and at home and this has given me a good work ethic and respect for technology. In addition to what I have learned from my chores, I have also learned from my hobbies. I have been drawing for a very long time and I learned important hand drafting techniques. I believe these are all things that will help in my career.
My immediate plans after high school are to keep working at an internship (that is if I get into one this year) in engineering. If I don't get an internship in engineering, I will go through abacus (the IT intern system) as an IT support specialist in the school system and eventually get a full time job in that field so I can have a stable setup if I want to go to college. Even if I do get scholarships I will still get a job to pay for everything else. I plan on going to CSM for my first two years, because it is much cheaper than going to a university for the full four years, and afterward, I will consider completing my degree at a university so I can get a better-paying job. I am thinking of any college that I can afford and has a decent engineering program. I might go to trade school if it benefits me though.
If I achieve these goals, I will do my best to help others. I have been asked if I will make a difference in my community and I will do my best to do so. I also have big plans. I plan to make the world better for people all over the world and in my society.
