This project examines patterns of voter registration, turnout, and electoral participation among Native Americans using data from the Current Population Survey Voting and Registration Supplement. The study evaluates long-term trends in political participation and explores how institutional barriers, mobilization efforts, and political contexts shape Indigenous electoral engagement.
This theoretical project develops a new framework for understanding Native identity in political behavior research. Drawing on Indigenous political thought and political identity scholarship, it conceptualizes Native identity as a multidimensional construct encompassing legal citizenship, national belonging, cultural engagement, community recognition, and personal identity.
This project examines how Tribal Nations exercise authority over research conducted within their communities. Through interviews and case studies, it explores Tribal IRBs, Indigenous data governance, and the role of research oversight in advancing Indigenous sovereignty and self-determination.
Coauthored with Katherine Cramer and collaborators, this project investigates how workplace experiences contribute to civic life, democratic engagement, and participation in civil society.
