Natalie Abber

Hi there! Welcome to my professional portfolio and my classroom.

Natalie Abber

Hello there! My name is Natalie Abber and I am a 4th grade general education teacher at Aspire Triumph Technology Academy in Oakland, California. In my role, I create and develop rigorous and comprehensive lesson plans from different CCSS (Common Core State Standards) aligned English Language Arts, Civics, and Socio-Emotional Learning (SEL) curricula to enhance student learning and to meet grade level standards. I foster a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment through integrating SEL into academic content and implementing clear expectations with positive behavioral intervention supports. I also facilitate our school's free Art Club with a certified Art Therapist to promote equitable opportunities for creative expression in our school community.

As a upper elementary lead, I collaborate with grade-level, department, counseling, administration, and special education teams to define our student-centered school vision, support with coaching, and manage team meetings to ensure high quality outcomes for students and staff.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, I moved up to the Bay Area for undergraduate at UC Berkeley. During my four years at Cal, I had the tremendous opportunity to engage with public education in various capacities at different school sites around the Bay Area. After getting my degree in Sociology with Minors in History and Education, I knew that I wanted to join Teach for America in the Bay Area to transform this interest into a full-time career.

I am hugely passionate about education and plan on continuing to work in or adjacent to this field after obtaining my Masters of Science in Education from Johns Hopkins University. I believe that the highest impact I can have right now is in the classroom with my 45+ insightful, innovative, brilliant scholars.
