During the 2021 Virtual NASPR Chapter Meeting, we want to promote the camaraderie and interaction that is typical of NASPR events. We are welcoming proposals for “local hubs” where attendees can gather and share the NASPR experience together. Members can create an in-person or virtual space that fits their region and time demands, and NASPR can provide up to $1,000 US to assist (depending on membership response). Some models are:
NASPR watch party. Classroom or institution space is rented for one or two days and technology is provided so that attendees can view the proceedings together.
Brown bag lunch. Attendees rent or designate a space and time to meet, socialize, and discuss the proceedings.
Social meetup apps. Members may logon to a social meetup app to have online conversations with colleagues, and NASPR can help with subscription costs.
Social hour. Members can meet up in a social space, and appetizers or the first drink is on NASPR.
Informal dinner. Area NASPR members can meet at a restaurant or eating space to create their own banquet or informal get together. NASPR can provide up to $30 per person to facilitate the gathering.
House or garden party. A NASPR member can open their space to regional attendees and be reimbursed for refreshments or catering expenses up to $30 per person.
In order to organize a local hub, a NASPR member should submit a short proposal (about 500 words) including:
1. Their geographic area
2. Number of expected attendees in the area
3. Date(s) of hub event
4. Space(s) of event
5. Preliminary budget, including
- Space rental
- Technology rental
- Refreshments per person
6. Brief description of ideas for the event including advertising and attempts for inclusion (e.g., students, regular members, new or lapsed members in the area, practicing psychotherapists interested in the organization)
7. Potential impact of the event, including membership, inclusiveness, and opportunities to engage local community of researchers and practitioners
Proposals will be reviewed by the NASPR Executive Committee. We encourage NASPR members to use facilities and equipment already available to them in order to reduce costs to the organization. Collaboration between multiple proposals in a similar geographic area may be suggested by the EC (e.g., a Friday event at one location and a Saturday event at the other). Gatherings need to be conducted in accordance with all local government COVID prevention guidelines. Overnight hotel and travel costs unfortunately are not eligible for reimbursement.
