Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, and Computational Neuroscience

Thank you for visiting my page!

I have joined Walmart Global Tech as a Staff Machine Learning Engineer, in Silicon Valley, California, USA. My work focuses on enhancing the quality of product images on Walmart's e-commerce platform. We are also exploring the frontiers of Generative AI for Vision, developing systems that combine Classical Computer Vision and Generative AI to generate entirely new product images for catalog enrichment.

I have completed my PhD in Computer Science from the University of Miami, under the supervision of Professor Odelia Schwartz. My primary research focus was Deep Learning, Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and their applicability to understand the brain visual system, specifically in the middle level areas of the brain. I studied statistical regularities in natural scenes and their processing in the brain from the computational perspective. My particular interest was the study of neural basis of object representation and recognition. Given the established excellence of CNNs in visual recognition tasks, I investigated the underlying factors and computations that make them so powerful, to understand the mathematical foundations that enable their impressive capabilities and their intriguing parallels with the brain visual system.

I completed BSc in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. My Masters is in Computer Engineering, from Artificial Intelligence Lab at Kyung Hee University, South Korea, under the supervision of Professor TaeChoong Chung.
