I have joined the Artificial Intelligence team at Whirlpool Corporation in Silicon Valley, California, as a Machine Learning and Computer Vision Engineer.

I have completed my PhD in Computer Science from the University of Miami, under the supervision of Professor Odelia Schwartz. My primary research focus is Deep Learning, Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and their applicability to understand the brain visual system, specifically in the middle level areas of the brain. I study statistical regularities in natural scenes and their processing in the brain from the computational perspective. I am particularly interested in the neural basis of object representation and recognition. Since CNNs have already proven to be a very good model for visual recognition, I am investigating on what factors and computations make them so powerful, aka the mathematics behind it, to understand their correspondence with the brain.

I completed BSc in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. My Masters is in Computer Engineering, from Artificial Intelligence Lab at Kyung Hee University, South Korea, under the supervision of Professor TaeChoong Chung.
