FM VALUE PROPOSITIONS IN MALAYSIA

ABSTRACT
Facilities Management (FM) and Real Estate Management (REM) play roles in the built environment to support customer primary activities by providing maintenance support, project management and user management during the building life cycle. These management of all services required for the management of buildings and real estate to maintain and increase their value. The integration of multi-disciplinary activities within the built environment and the management of their impact upon people well-being and workplace productivity. Hence, the management function must geared toward achieving the financial goals of corporate organization, which largely aim at value creation. ·
This research investigates Value Adding Management with focus on the relationships between the management of procurement function and value creation. Previous research describes the principle of value generation used in REM/FM as to support for the internal process growth of REM/FM practitioners to become more informed of their process practices, provisions, performance results and relationships with client organizations, stakeholders and vendors. ( Jensen et al., 2010; Jensen and Katchamart, 2012; Jensen and van der Voordt, 2016; Berg, Thuesen, Ernstsen, and Jensen, 2019). The intention of REM/FM value proposition is to give legitimacy to senior management and c-suite level in relations to strategic FM sourcing strategy consideration.
This study introduces a strategic view on sourcing FM business function that is based on a greater understanding of companies sourcing strategy at pre procurement, and the post procurement phase on value creation mechanism during contract management activities. The term FM is used, instead of REM/FM, throughout this article to ensure consistency of the FM scope and context of FM business understudy.
