"NO School Should Be A Silent Witness To Climate Injustice."

NS4CA Motto

Who We Are

Napa Schools for Climate Action was founded in 2018 and is a chapter of the Schools for Climate Action organization. The group is composed of passionate students, teachers, faculty, local government leaders, citizens, etc. all across Napa County & the NVUSD.

Our Purpose

Napa Schools for Climate Action leans on the Pledge - tell the truth, grieve, and do something about the climate emergency. This group is dedicated to making climate-conscious changes to our community and advocating for climate education.

Current Goals

Our main goal is to empower youth to take a stand and make a difference in society. Currently, we strive to urge all of Napa County to implement a prohibition on all expanding and new gas stations to stop endorsing the use of fossil fuel vehicles. This goal is a key step to reaching net-zero emissions by or before 2030.

Take the Climate Restoration & Literacy Survery to contribute to an effort in passing a new NVUSD Reoslution!

"In the 2019-2020 school year, the students of Napa Schools for Climate Action created the Pledge to tell the truth about the Climate Emergency that over 1,000 people have signed and agreed to."

What does the Pledge do?

Our Future is in Your Hands: 2023 Showcase

About the Our Future Is In Your Hands Contest

Our Future is in Your Hands is a high school contest that Napa S4CA hosted in March & June of 2023. The purpose of hosting this event was to bring awareness to the climate crisis, give our Napa County youth an outlet to express themselves and bring our community together during this stressful time. Any high schooler in Napa County, no matter whether they attend an NVUSD high school, a private school, a school outside of our district (but still in Napa County), or are homeschooled, could participate in the contest as long as they are in either grades 9, 10, 11, or 12. The task that students had to accomplish was to create a piece that accurately portrayed their feelings towards climate change, how climate change has impacted them, and why they personally believe it is a serious and important issue by using any (appropriate) means of expressing themselves. We received a lot of amazing submissions, which went through a round of judging.  The finalists were announced a week before the Awards Ceremony, during which we hosted a gallery-style Zoom meeting where finalists got to present their work to the public and announce the top 3 winners. If anyone is interested in viewing the finalists' pieces, follow the interactive presentation linked above!

Thank you so much to our contributors for allowing this contest to happen!
