In addition to physicians, other services will be provided by a variety of healthcare providers including: nurses, medical assistants, acupuncturists, and healthcare students.
Individual providers will spend blocks of time providing healthcare, training and education to the community. A primary physician will act as team leader, for duration of one to two years. Other volunteer healthcare providers and students will be accepted and pay a fee to help cover operational costs.
NAOP-International will facilitate the transitions of these individuals and provide basic cultural awareness education. Facilities and lodging will be maintained for the healthcare worker teams.
Educational activities will include multiple health related topics. Community classes will be held on topics of preventative health care, sanitation and disease transmission. Example topics include: hand washing, personal hygiene, and pregnancy prevention. These classes will be developed in a format to allow local instructors to transition into the role of educating the community. The organization also plans to develop study abroad practicums for college students.
Upon implementation, multiple metrics will be measured at startup, quarterly and annually. A six month interim and annual report will be available.
