Augmented reality for the CIM and robotics lab

The CIM and Robotics Lab in Braude academic college was established in 1997 at Braude College of Engineering, Karmiel, located in room D106. The lab provides students with hands-on experience in robotics and computer-integrated manufacturing (CIM) to support Israel's high-tech industry needs.

Lab Purpose & Capabilities The lab serves Industrial Engineering and Mechanical Engineering students with advanced manufacturing technologies including CIM and Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMS). These systems enable rapid product development, high quality, short production times, just-in-time delivery, and quick adaptation to market demands.

The lab includes:

Material Handling:

• Closed-loop conveyor system with loading/unloading stations

• Magnetic coding system for pallet identification

• Real-time material tracking throughout the system

Laboratory Activities Students work in groups of 3-5 throughout the semester, gaining practical experience with industry-standard CIM and robotics technologies.

The application is currently being developed for the PLC systems:

• Programmable controllers with robots, conveyors, and sensors

• Integration of ladder logic programming with robot control
