Why Is It Important to Talk About Failure?
💔The recent discussions around the NEET examination and the tragic loss of young lives made me reflect on something I believe our communities rarely talk about openly: failure.
📈People often say, "Failure is the steppingstone to success." For a long time, I never truly believed that. It sounded like a comforting phrase rather than reality. My perspective changed when I tried a simple exercise. I wrote down every major failure in my career on one side of a page and every success on the other, arranging both in chronological order. As I looked at them, something unexpected became clear. Every success could be traced back to a failure. Each failure had quietly changed my direction. Sometimes it sparked curiosity. Sometimes it challenged my ego. Sometimes it made me determined to prove something—not to others, but to myself. Even before I realized it, failure had already pointed me toward my next path.
🌈Listening to people who openly shared their own failures also changed me. Their honesty gave me acceptance and helped me understand that failure is not a reflection of who we are—it is simply one of the possible outcomes of trying. That realization brought me peace. Instead of tying every outcome to my ability or self-worth, I began to see failure as part of the process. It allowed me to approach new opportunities with less fear and better strategies. Talking about failure gave me something I didn't expect acceptance.
😃Acceptance gave me the courage to reflect, learn, and eventually laugh about some of my mistakes. Looking back, a few of those moments now make me smile. They remind me of the inexperienced, innocent, and sometimes naive version of myself. Those chapters had to end so that new ones could begin.
🧑🏫Failure is also a humbling teacher. Sometimes it slows us down for good reasons. It teaches patience. It encourages caution. It helps us calculate risks more thoughtfully the next time. It reminds us that confidence should be balanced with preparation. Talking about failure also means letting go of ego and embracing openness.
🤗Failure has its own quiet beauty because it carries the footprints of our efforts. Like history, it tells a story—not only of where we failed, but also why and how we grew from it. One of the greatest lessons failure taught me was about happiness. It made me question whether my happiness depended entirely on success. Over time, I realized that my life is much bigger than my career outcomes. I learned to separate who I am from what I achieve. Today, I can appreciate life more deeply because I acknowledge my failures instead of hiding them. I see them, but I no longer use them to judge myself.
💪The people we admire most have often failed many times, sometimes repeatedly at the very same goal. Those repeated attempts are not signs of weakness. They are often signs of passion. Failure is a reminder that we cared enough to try again. Perhaps multiple failures don't reveal our limitations—they reveal what truly matters to us.
🎉Failure is inevitable. Failure is valuable. Success is meaningful. But neither success nor failure should determine our happiness.
Because the journey is made of all three—tries, failures, and successes—and together, they shape who we become.
