About our volunteers
NAMI of Erie County would not be what it is today without the constant support of volunteers. All classes and support groups offered by NAMI are regularly hosted by unpaid volunteers with lived experience with mental illness (either as someone with a mental illness or someone who cares about someone with a mental illness). This is done on purpose to make sure that anyone who comes to our activities feels comfortable that we are here as a community to help educate, advocate for, and support them as well as learn deeply what their needs and concerns are. Also, with the generous support of volunteers and donors we are able to hold social activities for people in the community to meet each other, network, make friends, and find support.
