Saying “ආයුබෝවන්” ("Ayubowan") is the Sinhalese way of greeting a person.
It is something like saying “Hello”, but in addition, it has a much wider meaning, i.e., wishing “May You Enjoy a Long Life”

The Law of Dependent Origination (පටිච්ච සමුප්පාද විවරණය):
"When this is, that is; This arising, that arises. When this is not, that is not; This ceasing, that ceases"
"Through ignorance are conditioned volitional actions or mental-formations
Through volitional actions is conditioned consciousness ▼
Through consciousness are conditioned mental (name) and physical (form) phenomena
Through mental and physical phenomena are conditioned the six senses (eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, mind)
Through the six sense is conditioned (sensorial and mental) contact
Through (sensorial and mental) contact is conditioned sensation (feeling).
Through sensation is conditioned desire (craving)
Through desire is conditioned clinging (attachment)
Through clinging is conditioned the process of becoming (Karmic force, volitional formation) ▼
Through the process of becoming is conditioned birth
Through birth are conditioned decay, death, sorrow, lamentation, pain, grief and despair"
- Lord Gautama Buddha, 563-483 B.C.
