I am a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Peradeniya, Sri lanka. Previously I was a Post Doctoral Researcher in the Department of Biological Cybernetics at the University of Bielefeld, and affiliated with the CITEC (Center of Excellence Cognitive Interaction Technology) Graduate School, Bielefeld, Germany. Also, I was working as a PostDoc at the same department under the EU funded FP7 project EMICAB (Embodied Motion Intelligence for Cognitive, Autonomous Robots). 

I obtained a PhD degree in Computer Science from the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden. As a doctoral student, I worked in the areas of computer simulations of locomotion, biologically inspired walking machines, machine learning and artificial neural networks. One of the main objectives is to understand the neural control mechanisms behind locomotion and to design new biologically inspired locomotor control algorithms that can be implemented on robotic walking, swimming or crawling emulators. Also, I was involved in a three-year collaborative project (LAMPETRA) funded by the Seventh EU Framework Programme.
