Machelle Keen (co-chair) is Collections and Facilities Coordinator and Administrative Assistant to the Director at the Science and Engineering Library at Vanderbilt University. She has worked in the Vanderbilt University Libraries for 30 years. Her passions are reading, life-long learning and helping to make a difference. She has spent the few year developing, chairing and planning “Partners in Progress VUL Support Staff Conference” and the “Support Staff as Leaders NALA Conference 2019 and 2020”. With these conferences, she is developing her dream of creating opportunities for support staff to attend professional development conferences and feel empowered through learning.
In her spare time, Machelle has three grown sons and one granddaughter and one grandson, a new house, a huge home library and loves crocheting to keep her busy. ( machelle.keen@vanderbilt. edu )
Karen M. Swoopes (co-chair) is currently the Administrative Assistant at Vanderbilt University Peabody Library in Nashville, TN. Karen is active in the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP), where she currently serves as Social Media Chair for the IAAP Appalachian Region and the IAAP Nashville Branch. In her non-work hours, Karen enjoys reading, watching old movies, listening to music, and porch and deck sitting while enjoying the sounds of silence. (karen.swoopes@vanderbilt.edu)
Brynna Farris is the Library Assistant for Access Services at the Franklin Library at Fisk University. Brynna has had an appreciation for libraries since she was a little girl, and throughout her college career dedicated her time learning and volunteering with many library institutions including the New York Public Library, and the Tennessee State Library and Archives. Brynna has a passion for learning, dedicating herself to being a life-long learner and encouraging others of all ages and backgrounds to do the same. Brynna enjoys watching movies, listening to music and practicing her German language skills.
Jodie Gambill is currently Web Development Lead and Librarian for Digital Projects at Vanderbilt University Libraries in Nashville, TN. In this role, she does a lot of coding and committee work, with a dash of project management. She is also active in the American Library Association and the Tennessee Library Association. She holds a B.S. in Mathematics from Lipscomb University and an M.S. in Information Sciences from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. For fun, she likes to read, run, sing in church choir, and talk to herself on Trello boards.
Jenifer Grady, MSLS, MBA, CAE is Executive Director of Tenn-Share, Tennessee's multi-type library consortia for discounted group database and e-book purchases. Jenifer loves to encourage people to advocate for themselves, particularly as it pertains to salaries, and was able to do this for 7+ years as the previous Director of the American-Library Association-Allied Professional Association in Chicago. She came to ALA-APA after completing a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Case Western Reserve University in her hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. Jenifer's MSLS is from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, and Bachelor's Degree from Oberlin College.
Nicole Wood is the Resource Management Librarian at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN. She oversees the library’s monographs collection and maintains the library’s catalog. She holds a B.A. in English from Trevecca Nazarene University, an M.S. in Information Sciences from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, and is working on a P.S.M. with a concentration in Environmental Informatics at Tennessee Tech University. In her spare time, Nicole enjoys learning new languages, dancing, and hiking.
