Meeting at Christines's Home in Milimani Nakuru, on 29 October 2024
Cheryle introduced our guest speaker, Nim Njuguna (NN) whose book, Enlarging the Tent, about the ongoing dialogue about racism, sexism and tribalism – the underlying cultural and familial attitudes that lead to so many differences in our world of today. These “-ism’s” could be addressed by embracing with genuine understanding the problems that these forms of otherness bring to our lives and find a way to actively unlearn these barriers.
NN was born and brought up in Molo and Nakuru in the 1950s/1960s – at the height of colonialism and all the discriminations that this inflicted. He has been in Vienna and England for most of his working life in the church, latterly the Quakers in England and has recently retired to Mbaruk, Nakuru.
The floor was opened for questions and comments and we all wanted to join the debate. Everyone was completely spellbound by his wonderful talk and would have liked to carry on and on! Thank you so much and look forward to having many more discussions and quiet times with Nim and Liz
Lovely open area, bowling, lunch and catching up over our FOAC discussions.
Held at the Sugden's Farm on Lucy and George Vrontimitis' food forest farm.
A delicious lunch was served and enjoyed on her lovely lawn surrounded by flowerbeds and framed with a stunning view of Nakuru City and the surrounding hills.
