The site lies between the New River, Meyer Green and Worcester Avenue
Nine family-sized homes are proposed – all 100% affordable and prioritised for Enfield residents
The layout and placement of two blocks has been considered in order to make room at the heart of the development for a shared amenity space and a new access route to the New River (subject to approvals)
Members of the surrounding community will be welcome within the communal outdoor spaces proposed, and we hope will benefit from the improved connection to the New River (subject to approvals)
Six parking spaces will be provided
For much of its history, Hoe Lane snaked between arable tracts of land in what was an entirely rural setting North of London. A pumping station built by the Metropolitan Water Board at the end of the 1800s was the first structure to be built to the North of the road on the opposite side of the New River from what is today Meyer Green.
Urban development was slow to approach the area, which was a flower nursery for much of the first half of the 20th century. As Enfield town expanded during the postwar period, however, a large number of terraced houses and low-rise apartment blocks were constructed that continue to structure the layout of streets and dwellings today.
1 Trees and planting
2 Car parking spaces
3 Five-homes
4 Connected private gardens
5 Shared amenity and access route to New River towpath (subject to approvals)
6 Four-homes
Each home will be two storeys tall. To the South, a series of slender, dual-aspect properties back onto the New River, while a terrace of five houses occupies the Northern end of the site.
Each unit is set back from neighbours with a well-proportioned garden into which a small, horizontal extension at ground level is possible. The units have also been designed to facilitate a small vertical extension, which is set back to minimise impact on neighbours.
The layout and placement of the two blocks has been considered in order to make room at the heart of the development for a shared amenity space and a new access route to the New River (subject to approvals).
Please note that the image below is for the purposes of indicating the overall dimensions of the proposed buildings only.
We hope to remove a section of the fence to the South to open a more direct connection to the New River towpath. Trees and shrubs will be maintained wherever possible. New planting beds will be introduced. A communal space will be left open at the heart of the site. We hope this will transform this section of the New River and open it up for all local residents (subject to approvals).
Six new car parking spaces have been provided within the proposed layout, informed by a recent parking survey.
