About Me
This is Nafiz Imtiaz, currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). I am a Lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at the Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST), currently on study leave to continue my doctoral studies.
At UCLA, my research focuses on Monolithically Integrated THz Optoelectronics, exploring advanced device architectures that merge photonics and high-frequency electronics for next-generation communication and sensing technologies.
I completed my B.Sc. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 2021 and my M.Sc. in Electronics and Photonics from BUET in 2024. My master’s research was centered on III-Nitride Nanowire-based Electro-Absorption Modulators (EAMs), focusing on enhancing modulation efficiency through nanoscale device engineering. My undergraduate thesis investigated the modulation of Spoof Surface Plasmon Polaritons (SSPP) interconnects for high-speed chip-to-chip communication.
My research interests include photonics, plasmonics, optical integrated circuits, optoelectronics, nonlinear optics, and biosensing technologies. I am particularly interested in developing novel photonic and plasmonic device concepts for compact, high-performance optoelectronic systems aimed at next-generation communication and sensing applications.
