About Me

I’m Nafew Sajed Joy— 

a writer, researcher, and policy enthusiast at the intersection of publishing, sustainability, governance, and social change. With both Bachelor’s (Bachelor of Social Sciences) and Master’s (Master of Social Sciences) degrees in Printing and Publication Studies from the University of Dhaka. My academic journey has been grounded in critical inquiry, creative problem-solving, and a deep commitment to public scholarship.

My research explores themes ranging from industrial revolutions and gender equity to textbook reform, innovation adoption, and sustainable development. I’ve published peer-reviewed articles in leading journals, including Social Science Review, Journal of Developing Societies, and English Education. I also have a growing interest in media and communication research and development policy studies.

Beyond academia, I have written over 100 newspaper articles for prominent national and international publications. My work has appeared in national outlets including The Daily Star, Prothom Alo, The Business Standard, The Financial Express, Dhaka Tribune, Daily Waadaa, Counterpoint BD, The Asian Age, New Age, Daily Janakantha, The Daily Observer, Daily Amar Desh, Kaler Kantho, The Daily Inqilab, Daily Times of Bangladesh, Daily Industry, Daily Sun, The Bangladesh Today, and The Country Today. Internationally, my work has been published by Pakistan Today, Frontier Myanmar, and Unsustainable Magazine. My work spans diverse topics including climate resilience, education reform, labour rights, healthcare, and geopolitics, always with the goal of interrogating systems, amplifying silenced voices, and sparking public discourse. As an environmentalist and social commentator, I continuously strive to be a voice for justice and accountability.

I’ve presented research at national and international conferences, received national academic scholarships, and completed global training on SDG law, climate governance, and development justice through fully sponsored programmes involving the University of Cambridge. I was also selected among 26 journalists from South Asia for ICIMOD’s Journalist Training on Narratives on Climate Change and Migration in Kathmandu, where I received intensive training in climate-induced migration reporting, data storytelling, and ethical journalism. 

Outside of writing and research, I’ve held leadership roles including General Secretary of House of Volunteers (HoV DU), Vice President of Dhaka University Students' Association of Uttara (DUSAU), Joint Secretary at Dhaka University Career Club (DUCC), and Class Representative at my department. I’ve led impactful youth campaigns on water, sanitation, menstrual hygiene, and student welfare, embodying my belief in action-oriented civic engagement.

I believe words can transform societies. Through research, journalism, and activism, I strive to build a more informed, inclusive, and sustainable future, for Bangladesh and beyond.
