Ph.D. Title: Development of a Sustainable Flood Management Approach: Case studies of Kosi River and Adyar River Basins

Description:

To critically study the different flood management approaches in Kosi River and Adyar river basins in Bihar and Tamil Nadu respectively and to develop a hydrological model and simulate the effects of rainfall on surface runoff and flood discharges. The study primarily aims to identify the possible implementation of 'Green Infrastructure' that can attenuate the flood peaks and reduce the flood risk. The outcome of this nature-based sustainable approach for flood risk management can contribute to creating resilient and inclusive urban as well as rural environments, which will also provide various ecosystem services and support the adaptation to the climate change.

Master Project Title: Critical Study of Total Bed Material Equations in the alluvial rivers and the flumes.

Description:

It involves the critical study of total bed material load predictors on large set of published data for various Alluvial Channel and Flumes. Furthermore, various significant parameters were selected after factor analysis, for the development of a total bed material load equation for alluvial channels. The resultant predictor was then verified by comparing the result of various total bed material equations.
