My two-dimensional art journey can be traced back to sheets of paper taped to the wall of my nursery and a series of vehemently drawn circles I insisted were a helicopter. Years later, when asked what my preferred medium was, I chose to articulate my fondness for the 2B pencil, smooth fountain pen, and glittery pastel with words like "sketching", despite that being a large understatement. Below are several of the mediums I have experience with.
The following pieces are traditionally drawn, photographed, then overlaid with color using digital sketchbooks.
Girl in Pink & Blue
Dahlia - Original Elven Character
I do not sell or profit from fanart, but I thoroughly enjoy expressing my interest in pop culture. Fanart is an extension of something youthful and wholehearted which inspires me to want to recreate the things I hold dear.
Growth (2019)
The portraits to the left are a series featuring five figures, each donning monochromatic flowers. The separateness of the colors draws attention to our tendency to divide.
PAINTING
I began painting with acrylic paints in high school, but it quickly became the most popular medium for commissioned artwork. Below are a handful of my paintings, all of which were either gifts or commissions.
This gift was my largest painting to date, measuring about 5 feet wide and 3.5 feet tall.
The digital illustrations on the right were created on an iPad Air in Adobe Sketchbook and Procreate circa 2021. My use of the aforementioned programs helped me become proficient at managing layers on two dimensional images.
The digital art below was created on an iPad Air 5 with a second generation Appl Pencil, also on Procreate. Since these images were created in July of 2023, some growth can be seen, such as better use of Procreate tools and technology.
Above is a very simple animation I created atop one of my digital pieces. Although minimal-- the animation was accomplished on an iPad Air with programs from the App store-- this stop-motion animation was my first attempt at a new medium. It is a testament to my ability to teach myself new skills and programs with satisfactory results early into the learning process.
